On Consuming Too Much Content

There comes a time when you have to stop consuming You Tube videos, how-to-books, and blog posts. I'm referring to posts that tell you how to do a thing. How to write a novel, paint in acrylics, start a business, grow your social media, etc.

At some point, you have to start. You have to do the thing. Learning is important, don't get me wrong. And because I'm a fiction writer, I'll argue that improving your craft and ability as a storyteller is crucial. But are you just delaying getting started by watching one more how-to video?

You have to start. Stop reading other people's tweets. Stop watching Til Tok videos. Basically, stop spinning your wheels and do the thing.

Write the page.

Lift the weights.

Write the song.

Pick up the guitar.

Run the miles.

Execute the business plan.

This is something I'm working on. Less time searching for perfect systems and methods. More time working on stuff. Creating things and sending them into the world.
